Design / Folio Archive / October

October, off the scanner.

I scanned on five afternoons in late October. A hundred and thirteen new pieces hang here: folios, panels, cutouts moved around a clear sheet, and pages from my scratchpads.

They hang here in scan order, as September's do on the folio shelf. Open one to see it whole and read the question it asks. A note you leave stays in this browser.

Some September pieces went back through the scanner and keep their place on the folio shelf. Movies are emotions came back with a card taped on, dated October 04, so it hangs here as well.

Thirty-five folios

Laminated sheets, painted and collaged. On several the wash has nearly closed over the lettering; look for what shows through.

In scan order, October 17 to 22. Open one and flip through.

Page parts mapped onto operators: header, rod, menu, frame, focal square, and the unary motions of a brand.

Boon, bane, bone, bonk, and honk: a water cycle that bonks, a boonhat, a headline in clown downtown, and a bonk announced.

boon.land, factshift, and Lore Land planned again, and a list of domains.

The working sheets: design, development, architecture; components and domains; a hiring floor; a late-night scene workshop.

Paint over earlier pages, a moon over a green hill among them. Look for what shows through.

Five panels

Painted faces of panel canvases, and a framed board. One scan lays two September panels over each other.

*october_cutouts

Forty-two arrangements of cutouts

Hand-lettered cutouts on a clear sheet, moved between scans. Neighbours share most of their pieces, so stepping through a day shows what arrived and what left. Where they lay on a clear sheet, the black around them was the scanner's lid, so it is gone; choose what they lie on.

Thirteen pages to WAP, and a daily bap on WAP.MOM.

Operator names beside the years they might belong to, a lens to pick, and a tree from boon to honk.

A stencil of the domains, laid over a painted board one way up and then the other.

Plans in cutouts: mindful prompting, a skills gap, a once-weekly job description, Big O notation, a cinematic universe.

*scratchpads

Thirty-one scratchpad pages

Pencil, pen, and marker from spiral pads and loose sheets. Plans dated in January, a workbench outline, CSS listed property by property, sticky notes: the thinking before a folio.

In scan order. The January pages come first, then the loose sheets.

Pie and pi, Mimes Against WAP, and two dense pen drawings that wonder about pi.

Braces and wireframes, and a page that asks whether it is necessary.

Boon HONK in pencil and pen: a sweater, a scroll, a balloon, and the five words defined, from additive to extrinsically chaotic.

The Spw Workbench outline, clients, modern skills, CSS transforms, a career in PHP and TypeScript, and ideas for teams.

Two paintings on paper with no lettering.

*ask

Ask for a piece

Every piece here is a scan of something still on the table. Ask for one with the order card on the folio archive; form, price, and availability are settled in the reply.
