Celebration is how a group says out loud what mattered. A holiday season is a good time to wonder what we are making and how we are growing.
The table gets set, someone raises a glass, and a thing that happened all year finally gets a name. That agreement is the meaning. The food and the gifts carry it, and the carrying is worth doing because everyone at the table decided, together, that today counts.

Octvember: the mask
A costume is permission to try on a self for one night. It is the easiest time of year to make something you would not sign.
Ask: what would we make if nobody knew it was ours?
The long table
A shared meal is a receipt for a year of help: every dish arrived because someone carried it. Gratitude is how the table reads the receipt aloud.
Ask: who made this year possible, and have we told them?
The gift season
A gift is a guess about what someone values, wrapped so the guess can be a surprise. The best ones prove somebody was listening.
Ask: what did we make this year that someone would want to keep?
The threshold

A holiday is a season boundary
Work that grows all year needs a few days when the growth is said out loud instead of absorbed. Without them, everything changes a little and nothing is ever finished enough to celebrate.
A holiday gives a group that boundary for free. Name what was made. Say what changed and who changed it. Decide what the next season is for. This site keeps the same habit on a smaller clock: each release closes a cycle and names what it did before the next one opens.
