The layer operator marks which rules, tone, or constraints are in force inside a frame. The same contents can count as evidence, signal, or decoration under another layer.

Read the register. The encounter can clarify which rules are in force even when the page stays where it is.

What it means

The mark is atmosphere. Under another register, evidence and decoration may trade jobs, and the contents stay put.

Brace Physics

The brace wears the register. Pragmatics, semantics, experience, and runtime are coats on the same contents, and the coat is visible.

Before and after

Prefix #:x qualifies the following plane. Postfix x: would leave a register mark on the material just read.
